Is CATCH a mandatory tool endorsed by Malaysia Government?

No. CATCH is a voluntary tool and the purposes of CATCH are:

  1. To facilitate import and export of chemicals;
  2. To enhance compliance of CLASS Regulations 2013; and
  3. To Provide technical asistance to SME(Small and Medium Enterprise) particularly on chemical mixture classification.

Target users for CATCH are Malaysia’s industries and government agencies.

If a chemical is NOT found in CATCH, particularly via chemical search, does it implies that this chemical is not being regulated by Malaysia?

No. Although CATCH compiles the list of chemicals that available in several regulations, some of these instruments regulate characteristics of chemicals. Hence if a chemical is not found in CATCH, particularly via chemical search, please contact relevant regulatory agencies for further information or clarification.

If a chemical is found in CATCH, particularly via chemical search, will CATCH shows the existing control of that chemical in Malaysia?

No. If the chemical is found in CATCH, particularly via chemical search, CATCH will only indicate the name of the regulations/conventions that listed the chemicals. For further details, please contact relevant regulatory agencies for the control of the chemicals in Malaysia.

Is the classification results for chemical mixture derived from CATCH accepted by DOSH?

It depends on the information displayed on the classification report. DOSH has the rights to accept/reject the classification report derived from CATCH.
